Ladies only swimming; reducing barriers to exercise

It can be a bit scary making changes to your lifestyle, for example becoming more active. People who are anxious about how their body will look to others while they are exercising may avoid exercise as a result. One of the common barriers cited by women is their perception of their body image. Attending a female-only exercise class or a ladies-only swimming session may help to overcome anxiety as a barrier to initially starting to exercise. Cambridge City Council have recently set up a new women's only 'swim and tone' session in Chesterton Sport Centre, to help address low levels of women taking part in swimming locally. A new buggy walk has launched in Cambourne

It is a well known fact that many new mums struggle to be as active as they should be, but having a baby shouldn’t stop you being able to exercise! Following some consultation with new mums about what could help parents to be more active; a new buggy walk has started in Cambourne. The walks have been going for a few weeks now and have proved really popular. One buggy walker said, “The social element makes going for a walk much more appealing and allows parents to meet new people”. The group meets on a Monday, 11.15am outside The Blue School, and explores the footpaths and bridleways of Cambourne for approximately 45 minutes. East Cambridgeshire has it's first Walking Netball club

Coming to Littleport this November...Walking Netball! This slowed down version of Netball is the perfect way to get out and active this Autumn, whether you have never played Netball before or you haven't played it for a while. Walking Netball is for women of all ages and abilities. Anyone looking to exercise in a relaxed, supportive and friendly environment should consider this new activity. The new sessions start on Wednesday 22nd November at Littleport Leisure Centre at 7pm - 8pm. The first session is free of charge and then future sessions will cost £4.
