We are delighted to be part The Daily Mile national initiative, supporting schools to get children fit for life and fit for learning, by encouraging them to run or jog for 15 minutes every day in their schools or nurseries.
The Daily Mile is a physical activity initiative which promotes social, emotional and mental health and wellbeing, as well as fitness. It takes place outside in the fresh air during the school day at a time of the teacher’s choosing. Children run in their school clothes and no special kit or equipment is required.
Ali Cope, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Daily Mile coordinator said; "It is a profoundly simple but effective concept, which any school can implement completely free of charge and without the need for staff training. Its impact can be transformational – improving not only the children’s fitness, but also their attainment, mood, behaviour and general wellbeing".
To help us identify how best to support schools going forward we are asking our local schools to complete a very quick physical activity survey.
All schools that complete the survey will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 voucher for physical activity equipment of their choice.
Please complete the survey HERE!
Deadline to complete the survey is Wednesday 6th February.
